1961 Mercury Comet
About this vehicle
The rare '61 Comet was a stand-alone model marketed through Lincoln-Mercury dealers in the wake of the dissolution of the Edsel brand. Like the later Mercury Comet, the car was based on the Ford Falcon frame, with a longer wheelbase and a more upright roof-line. This example is powered by a 289ci V8 with a three-speed automatic transmission. It is finished in a bright blue and light grey, with a grey interior. The car includes a new updated battery, a battery tender, and a few other electrical updates that have been made since being purchased by the current seller. Includes copious digital documentation (on USB), original paper user guide and shop manual, various original parts, and a stylized '61 Comet front plate for car show use. Also in the trunk is a spare tire, a jack and jack stands, a tote with various tools bought specifically for maintaining this car, and whatever is left of various maintenance fluids (oil, transmission fluid, etc).
